PosiSep™ and PosiSep X™
Dissolving carboxymethylated chitosan-based intranasal hemostat dressing for (F)ESS, and office use.
These resorbable dressings are available in lengths of 3.8 cm and 5 cm. The material can be trimmed / cut in any desired shape /length at the specific needs of the surgeons, and easily positioned with a clear view into the middle meatus, ethmoid cavity, or frontal recess.
There are two variations of PosiSep;
PosiSep, expands when hydrated (saline solution) and then turns into a gel within 3 to 4 hours, and quickly dissolves within 72 hours. It is an excellent option for short term support and when there is minimum bleeding (i.e. after Balloon sinusplasty, and MIST procedures).
PosiSep X, expands when hydrated (saline solution) and provides excellent compression for 36 hours. It is an active hemostatic agent, which completely dissolves in 7 days. It can be used after any endoscopic sinus surgical procedure.
PosiSep products are biologically inert and create a moist environment which improves wound healing.
To aid in dissolving PosiSep, it is recommended to use saline irrigation in the nose daily after surgery for at least 10 day. Any residual PosiSep can easily be suctioned from the nose at any time.
PosiSep nasal dressing products can be stored at room temperature.
